- Read the details beneath the totals. Saturated fat, fiber, total sugars, and added sugars provide context that a three-number macro summary leaves out.
- Consider the entire food and meal. Look at ingredients, vitamins, minerals, sodium, variety, preparation, and how the food fits your needs.
- Avoid treating label numbers as moral scores. The label supplies information; it does not classify you or a food as “good” or “bad.”
How much protein, carbohydrate, and fat do you need?
There is no single macro split that is correct for every person. Needs and practical targets can vary with age, body size, activity, training demands, goals, food preferences, dietary restrictions, health conditions, medications, and other factors.
